An update on the Blue Boar
You may have seen the news that the Blue Boar is going to auction this Thursday, 15 October. We only learned about this recently, so things are moving rather quickly!

The community pub steering group met today to discuss what this means for our campaign to bring the Blue Boar back to life as a village pub.
We’re now exploring our options, including looking at the auction process, possible funding and, importantly, clarifying our legal rights under the Blue Boar’s Asset of Community Value (ACV) status. We’ve contacted the council and the auctioneers about these points.
We’re not making any decisions about bidding just yet. There are some important questions to answer first, and we want to make sure we understand all the options before deciding what to do.
Our ambition hasn’t changed: we’d love to see the Blue Boar open its doors again as a welcoming village pub. We’re doing what we can to make that happen, while being careful and realistic about the challenges, and we’ll continue to try to purchase the pub at its real market value.
We’ll keep you all updated as our next steps become clearer.
In the meantime, a big thank you to everyone who continues to support the campaign and our village pop-up pubs. It really does make a difference!
Don't forget - our next pop-up pub is on Saturday 17th October, 6-10pm at the Methodist Chapel (next to Crisp Gate 2) and we may be able to answer more questions then!
If you have any questions in the meantime or If you'd like to sign up to our email updates, please get in touch at hello@ryburghcommunitypub.co.uk.
